We stayed in the bridal suite, and recommended the Mercure to our wedding guests, last December. While the reception staff were inexperienced, their manager was accommodating and helpful in providing us with everything we needed. Our guests also had positive feedback, and the kids had a great time in the pool. I would recommend the Mercure in Gerringong as a great place to stay!

My partner and I recently stayed at the Mercure Gerringong Resort for our anniversary weekend, expecting a luxury experience from what is listed as a 4-star hotel. Unfortunately, we were left disappointed.
While we appreciated the thoughtful touches, like a complimentary bottle of wine to celebrate and being upgraded to the top room suite, the overall experience was far from luxurious. The room and the hotel’s restaurant both felt outdated, more in line with a basic motel than a resort.
Pros:
- Complimentary wine bottle for our anniversary
- Room upgrade to a top suite
- Staff were lovely and welcoming
Cons:
- No washer or dryer in the rooms
- The buffet breakfast was underwhelming, with bland options and a cleanliness issue – small dead bugs were found on clean plates. Especially for the higher than usual price for breakfast, much more was expected.
- The bathroom amenities were disappointing. The soap, conditioner, and shampoo were in old, inconvenient push dispensers that felt more appropriate for a shopping centre toilet than a resort.
- No additional toiletries like shower caps, sanitary bags, or ear cleaners were provided, which are expected at a 4-star hotel.
- The shower was outdated, in a bath setup, and poorly designed with a glass shield that caused water to splash all over the bathroom.
- Noise from nearby units was noticeable, suggesting poor soundproofing.
Overall, the resort lacked the elegance and modern touches expected from a 4-star property. Had it been rated as a 2 or 3-star hotel, we would have been more content, but it simply didn’t live up to the expectations for its rating or price.
We left feeling quite underwhelmed and wouldn’t recommend it to those looking for a true luxury experience.

Travel a bit for work and this would have to be the worst food I’ve had ever. Went for a safe option from a limited room service menu cheeseburger & chips Had tiny slices of cucumber and the meat tasted strange with no flavour or seasoning. Best part was the chips for $28
Buffet breakfast was also pretty disappointing, so pretty much had toast and a coffee
Room was ok but uncomfortable bed and pillow
Won’t be back unfortunately

Very well located in a beautiful part of the South Coast. The Resort has spacious and comfortable rooms, and good service. The hotel restaurant, Bella Char, serves excellent food and is especially valuable if you're an Accor ALL member (50% off the food bill).

Last night $150 motel
Tonight $450 hotel
Better view and much better service at the old rundown motel.
Reception was dreadful.
The room is in a corner beneath the stairs. Small room. No atmosphere. Hair on the bathroom sink. High step into the bath shower, which is not mentioned in the booking and not accessible to everyone in our party. Definitely rust and soap grime in the bathroom. Unclean drinkware. Not recommended. There are many nicer places to stay in Gerringong.
